Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Royalty Free license?

Essentially, “royalty-free” means you can use the image for any type of project you like, with very few restrictions. You cannot resell or give away the image or the rights to the image, and you cannot publish it in any way that's pornographic or defamatory.

When purchasing an image from Landmark Ottawa, you are buying the rights (on behalf of your client or end user) to publish the image.

What if I'm purchasing the Royalty License for my client?

If you are a design studio or advertising company, we'll need your client's name that you are buying the license for.

How much does a Royalty Free license cost?

The license fee will be determined by the file size you choose.

Web/Small CAD $100.00

Print/Large CAD $300.00

What is a JPEG?

JPEG is a standardized image compression process. (Joint Photographic Experts Group)

A JPEG is designed to compress full color or gray scale photographs to aid in the ease of downloading from the internet, without compromising image quality. After downloading the compressed file the photograph will be able to be opened at its full resolution.

Why different file sizes?

Different projects require different file sizes:

Small for web and multimedia.

Large for print and larger formats

If you will have a variety of end uses for the image, it might be best to buy the largest file size and size the image down for the smaller projects. And it is always recommended that you consult with the individual who will be working with or outputting your files to get their desired expectations.
